Every year hundreds of locals, mostly teens and preteens, prepare for one of Lewisburg’s main attractions during the fall season: Miller’s Nightmare Haunted Farm. Miller’s is the most popular and highest-rated haunted experience in the Greenbrier Area. People come out spooked, terrified, and horror-struck, while some just don’t come out.
Every year in October, Greenbrier East High School is buzzing with stories about Miller’s, which is a great location to visit as a group. Senior Josie Banton loved going this year. Her favorite part was “going with friends; a big group of friends. The scariest part is watching your own friends get scared.”
Senior Carson Waid spent this fall working at Miller’s. “I would say my overall takeaway is that it’s a really fun time,” he said. “It’s really a no-judgment type of place up there, and that’s what I really enjoy about it.”
At Miller’s, you can expect prepared food, axe-throwing, a bonfire, and two (new) escape rooms. The main attraction is a maze, which is actually just a path that takes you through many scary situations. You are taken through the woods, over a bridge, past multiple shacks, and into both a corn maze and Miller Manor, a big building with a backward-spinning clock on it. If you enjoy the excitement of clowns, witches, and scary doctors, Miller’s is for you. The only thing that might compare to the thrill of Miller’s are the rides at the State Fair, which also only come around once a year.
The cons of Miller’s include the expense and a long wait. Multiple students reported having to wait at least an hour before they could go through the maze, and standard admission is $20, with an extra $20 charge for a fast pass that means you can skip the wait. Even so, students rave about Miller’s Haunted Farm, so check out Miller’s if you’re looking for a thrill next fall.
