Most people love decorating for Christmas. It is a time for families to show off their holiday cheer. From the moment the calendar hits November 1st to Valentine’s Day, Christmas decor twinkles brightly around the world. Despite the joys that trees, wreaths, tinsel, and more bring, there has always been one thing that has divided the population: How early is too early to put up Christmas decorations?

Christmas decorations are stunning. The nostalgic, colorful lights and potent pine candles always get people into the holiday spirit. Even though many are fond of the furnishings, putting them up too early can diminish some of their magic.

“I put up my decor on November 1st or the weekend after Halloween,” junior Beth Defibaugh said. “I think it’s not too early, but also gives time to enjoy the decor.”

My family puts up decorations during Thanksgiving break. We usually start with the tree and slowly integrate other knick-knacks into the mix, approaching December 1st. I think that gives time to enjoy the decor, but not wear it out.

“A lot of my decorations we’ve had out for two years and just never put away,” junior Lane Jackson said. “However, we put up most of our things on Thanksgiving since it is close to Christmas.”

Regardless of when you think is the right time, putting up Christmas decorations is a timeless tradition that people look forward to each year. It is a great way to start the holidays and brings delight to many.
