The Athletics Department is a very accomplished part of Greenbrier East High School. From cross country to basketball, the Spartans own numerous state titles, including a recent women’s basketball championship! Now, as winter sports come to an end, spring sports like track & field, tennis, softball, and baseball begin. These teams are predicted to have successful seasons.
Jillian Styles, sophomore, runs track & field.
“Our first meet was March 21,” Styles said. “The environment with the team is great. We have good team culture!”
Team culture is a common phrase used for the Greenbrier East track team. They call the fun, supportive environment their “culture.” The environment in sports is important not only for athletes, but also spectators. The engaging environment captures viewers’ attention and keeps them excited about the sporting event.
Freshman Grace Brown plays tennis.
“Our first event was March 24, because our match on the 21 was canceled,” Brown said. “Our team is very fun to be around because of our high energy.”
The tennis team is an extremely fun group of students, and they are very excited to make new memories this season.
The softball team has a 9-6 record, while the baseball team has a 3-12 record.
Each of these teams has hard-working and talented athletes who deserve the support of the East community, so come out to the field, court, or track to cheer on our Spartans!
