Why did Florida man become such a widespread phenomenon, and why is it that Florida always seems to be the epicenter of so many strange occurrences?
In early 2019 the “Florida man” craze swept over the nation, where it was an almost daily occurrence that yet another Florida man would do something weird and wild to gain news attention from all over the nation. Like many things these days, the Florida man news articles started as a bit of an isolated joke on Reddit forums and sites of that nature, but quickly began spreading like wildfire, making their rounds as memes on Instagram, Reddit, Twitter and so on. Just as the memes were dying out, they were brought back to life by mainstream media interest, and now everyone is once again looking up Florida man in relation to a day of the year that’s significant to them, such as a birthday or anniversary, so that they can get their laughs because of funny meymey’s haha!

My running theory is that it just so happened to hit a certain niche in society and it bloomed very fast all over the country. But it begs the question, will there be another state that will start to have their own “Florida man” situation?
