Kendra Goeddert, a Senior here at East, has recently been selected as one of 625 semifinalists for the 2021 U.S.  Presidential Scholars Program. Originally, there were almost 6,500 people eligible to be selected for this program, and now the numbers have been narrowed down to the semifinalists who will be graduates of the year 2021.

The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program has been a symbol of excellency and merit for high school seniors across the country for 57 years. This Program was instituted in 1964 by an Executive Order from the President. The selection process of this program is based on the students’ excellence in the arts, career and technical fields, academics, the content of their character, their leadership, and their involvement in their school or community.

Out of the 625 semifinalists, about 160 will be accepted into the program and given the Presidential Scholars Medallion. The finalists will be announced in May.
