My Chemical Romance, the kings of early 2000s emo, have announced a reunion show set to happen this December in Los Angeles. The band, who broke up in 2013, announced their reunion show on October 31st of this year. They’ve always had a flare for the dramatic. MCR has also announced three more show dates slated for 2020. The rest of the tour will take place in Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

Emo kids (who are now emo young adults) everywhere are thrilled about this reunion. Over the past few years, there have been many false alarms concerning MCR’s comeback. In July 2016, a cryptic video featuring the famous piano intro from Welcome to the Black Parade and the date 9/23/16 was posted to My Chem’s official Twitter. Many speculated the band was getting back together, but in September it was revealed to be a promotion for the 10th anniversary reissue of The Black Parade.

In a statement about the excitement over a possible reunion, the band said, “We’ve been really touched and blown away by the response to the teaser trailer. We are not touring and there is no reunion planned – only a release for the anniversary of The Black Parade. Thank you so much for continuing to keep MCR in your mind and in your hearts.”

But here we are three years later with a handful of show dates and revamped excitement about the possibility of new music from My Chemical Romance. As of now, the band hasn’t announced any plans for new music, but they’ve proved time and time again that you should always expect the unexpected.
