Should School Start an Hour Later?
October 21, 2019
On October 14th, a law was enacted In California that requires its high schools to open no earlier than 8:30 a.m., which is a heck of a lot better than East starting at 7:58!
School should start at 9:00. That’s just my opinion. In almost every class I go to, the students and even some teachers complain how tired they are, and how they wish school would start an hour or two later. I fully agree because we aren’t focused when we are tired, and fatigue could cause us to get too stressed out later in the day.
According to a recent University of Washington study, students suffer physically and mentally from having to wake up too early. Several of my teachers also feel that a later start time would be beneficial. One told me that Greenbrier East High School has the longest school day in the state.
