Halloween is the only day of the year to dress up and get free candy! Trick or treating has been a tradition for about one hundred years and is beloved by many.
When it comes to candies, chocolate is often a top finisher. On the other hand, black licorice gets a lot of hate. But the real question is: What are teachers and students’ favorite and least favorite candies?
As a boy Mr. V, East’s beloved Spanish teacher, loved popcorn balls made by an old neighborhood lady. They were “to die for,” he said. V’s least favorite is the triangle of terror. “Candy corn feels like it gets between my teeth and rots them,’ he said.
Coach Lee’s all-time favorite Halloween candy is white chocolate Reese’s, while his least favorite is none other than licorice.
Like many other Spartans, junior Zach Vance’s all time favorite Halloween candy is Reese’s. Vance also agrees with V that candy corn is just straight up gross.
Principal Joey Hodge’s all-time favorite Halloween candy is sour patch kids, while Mr. Vincent favors Snickers and–wait for it–candy corn! What a bone shaker! The first person to actually favor the triangle of death others seem to hate.
Hodge’s least favorite candies are Almond Joy and York Peppermint Patties; he says both are “straight buns!”
Mr. Vincent’s least favorite candy is maple Reese’s. “They taste like you eat dirt,” he said. Let’s just say he’s not a fan.
Sophomore Tessa Spradlin’s least favorite Halloween candy is also Reese’s. “Gross” candy corn’s texture, on the other hand, does not sit right with her.
It seems like many students and teachers love Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups! It is safe to say they are overall the favorite Halloween candy. Poor candy corn, on the other hand, is a hard pass for all but Mr. Vincent.
