The last time 15-time Grammy winner Adele released music was in 2015 with her album 25. Now the pop-vocal sensation has retaken the music scene with her new song “Easy on Me.” This song serves as the lead single from her upcoming fourth studio album, 30, dropping on November 19th.

“Easy on Me” is a heart-breaking ballad that tackles the singer’s recent divorce from charity CEO Simon Konecki. It was released alongside a music video at 7pm EST on October 14th, making fans go wild. In its first 24 hours, the video accumulated over 50 million views, making it trend at #1 on YouTube. The song is emotionally layered, with lyrics discussing Adele’s feelings towards divorce and motherhood (her son Angelo is eight years old). She may be expressing her feelings of settling down too quickly and at such a young age when she sings, “Go easy on me, baby / I was still a child / Didn’t get the chance to / Feel the world around me” and “You can’t deny how hard I have tried / I changed who I was to put you both first / But now I give up.”

Adele has been hyping “Easy on Me” up for weeks now, teasing clips of the song on Instagram live and on other social media platforms. Along with the song, the British singer has hyped up her upcoming album 30, which she calls her “ride or die throughout the most turbulent period of [her] life.”

You can catch Adele’s new song on all streaming platforms and listen to her new album starting November 19th.
