Disney Investor Day 2020 Recap

Disney Investor Day 2020.

Liana Brooks, Staff Writer

On December 10, Disney released a whole lot of news about what’s coming to Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, and a new platform called Star. A lot of people knew there was going to be an announcement, but did not expect the sheer number of films announced. Let’s take a look at Disney Investor Day followed by the new films, series, and shorts that Disney, National Geographic, Pixar, Star-Wars, and Marvel will release between 2020 and 2023.

Disney Investor Day is a day when Disney+ and their partner networks publish their statistics on how profitable the companies have been, and give information about upcoming events, projects, and releases. The December 10 headline on the company website reads: “The Walt Disney Company Surpasses 137 Million Paid Subscriptions across it’s Direct-to-Consumer Services, Shattering Previous Guidance; Increases Paid Subscriptions Target to 300-350 million by 2024.” Disney+ launched in November 2019, and investors have been astonished at how many streamers they have gained in one year. Disney+ also partnered with other streaming companies such as Hulu and ESPN+ to create a bundle, so instead of just having Disney+, subscribers can stream more shows than ever before, including those on Star, the new international platform launching in Europe in February.

Disney has announced approximately 10 new Star-Wars series and 10 new Marvel series, with 15 Disney live-action, animated, and Pixar series slated for theaters. Listed below is what fans are most excited about. (Some do NOT yet have release dates, or actors verified.)

In the Shield’s “Comments” below this article, post which ones you are most excited about!
